BASE COACHES

Elliott Graham – Coach Bio
Elliott Graham is a highly accomplished figure skating coach with a strong competitive background in ice dance. He is a Polish National Silver Medalist, Junior World Dance Competitor, and Canadian National Junior Dance Silver Medalist. With over 10 years of coaching experience, Elliott brings both technical expertise and a deep understanding of athlete development to every session. He has worked with multiple Canadian national champions and many international competitors.
Elliott specializes in ice dance, stroking, and skating skills, working with skaters of all levels to build strong fundamentals and refined technique. His coaching style emphasizes precision, edge quality, and performance, helping skaters reach their full potential in a structured and supportive environment.
Coaching Philosophy
Elliott believes that long-term success in skating begins with strong habits developed at a young age. His approach focuses on creating structure, consistency, and discipline in daily training. Through repetition, skaters build muscle memory and confidence, allowing skills to become second nature over time.
He also places a strong emphasis on positive thinking, encouraging athletes to develop resilience, self-belief, and a growth mindset. Elliott aims to create an environment where skaters feel motivated, supported, and challenged—laying the foundation not just for competitive success, but for lifelong skills both on and off the ice.

Information for Parents – How to Choose a Private Skating Coach
When skaters have graduated from the Learn to skate (CANSkate level 5) program, you will need to arrange Coaching in one of the STARSkate Program levels (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
When choosing a coach for your skater, there are a few things to consider including their rates, availability and qualifications. Rates are affected by the coach’s qualifications and experience; whether the lesson is private, semi private or a group lesson; as well as the length of the lesson. Contact a coach to find out if he or she is accepting additional skaters.
If you have a question about this – please reach out and contact us for more information.
Program Assistants
The Newmarket Skating Club is a not-for-profit organization that absolutely depends on the generosity of its members and Program Assistants are no exception. They provide valuable guidance on the ice, helping younger skaters practice what coaches are teaching them in a fun and rewarding environment.
